Frank Hayden High School, Burlington Public Library & Haber Community Centre
This shared facility includes four competition-sized double gyms, a three-storey high school with a 200-seat auditorium, and a shared 11,840 square-foot (1,110 square metre) integrated library which is available for use by the public and the high school, with flexible classroom and public meeting space.
System Solution
As part of the project construction team on this exciting 220,000 sq.ft. community complex, viridian provided the integrated automation solution and web-based interface into the facilities’ specialized and sustainable design, incorporating energy efficient features and technologies. The unique design utilized the scientific principle of thermal storage that is able to capture, store and release heating and cooling energy upon demand through strategically-placed concrete hollow core slabs integrated into the building at the design stage, all fully controlled through the viridian building automation system with a series of complex control algorithms.
Results
The result offers an improved return on investment (ROI) and a proven solution for establishing low and zero energy building. The largest project of its kind in the city of Burlington, Alton is a proud achievement for the community at large.
